Add-on Beverages & Comic Crusaders Replay!
almost 2 years ago – Sat, Jul 16, 2022 at 09:29:44 PM

Hello there, TarMucks fan!

We know some of you are big-time coffee and/or cocoa lovers, so we wanted to make sure that you know…

You can add extra coffee, decaf, or cocoa on to your order at any pledge level!

It's fhtagn true

Add a Beverage

You can add as many pouches of "Get Java" roast, "Cthulhu Is Hard to Caffeinate" decaf, or "Cocoa Is for Cthulhu" hot cocoa as you'd like. Here's how to do it…

Add beverages to your digital-only pledge:

  • If you've backed the campaign at a digital-only level, unfortunately, Kickstarter does not give you access to physically mailed add-ons when you check out.
  • But that's no problem, because BackerKit does! BackerKit is a third-party service we use to help us with surveys and fulfillment. And, after the campaign ends, you'll be able to order physical add-ons when you complete your survey!

Add beverages to your physical-level pledge:

  • If you've backed at a level that includes physical rewards, you can hit the "Manage My Pledge" button on our Kickstarter campaign page to add coffee or cocoa to your order using the Kickstarter platform!
  • Or you can use the BackerKit add-on store after the campaign ends, when you complete your survey. Either way, you can grab as many beverages as you'd like!

We can't wait to hear what you think of these beverages, so order as many as you'd like!

All About That Coffee!
almost 2 years ago – Thu, Jul 14, 2022 at 09:31:32 PM

Hey, TarMucks fam!

Today, we want to go into depth about the coffee.

Sure, we all love comics and cups, but in the end, we're here for the caffeine, amirite?

About "Get Java" Roast

Our proprietary Get Java roast is just the dark, eldritch kick in the fun you need to keep your worst Cthluhu-inspired nightmares at bay…and keep the Great Old Ones safely asleep in their enormous beds. It also packs a wallop of caffeine that'll keep you up till Cthulhu comes home!

This delectable brew starts in an organically operated family farm in Copan, Honduras, near the Mayan Ruins. The trees are pollinated and fertilized by local bees and bats—making them the spookiest and greenest we can find! They're also grown near orange farms, giving them a bright citrus flavor that adds to the chocolate and walnut notes of this already complex coffee.

A photo from the farm in Honduras

The coffee beans are processed by "wet-wash," which means the coffee cherries are submerged into clean water, and any cherries that float are bad. The good cherries are then transferred to a coffee pulper, which removes the cherry skin.

Wet washing the beans

The next step is fermentation for about 14 hours, after which the beans are rinsed.

Next, they're dried and bagged, and then purchased directly from the farm, with no middle men taking a cut of the profit. These beans are better than Fair Trade—they're Direct Trade!

Small Batch Roasted

Finally, they're shipped to the Fort Myers, Florida, where they're roasted in small batches to a medium-dark finish by the coffee lovers and experts at Comics on Coffee, a family-owned coffee company serving premium coffee to people who love all things geek.

They continually develop their superb roast profiles with the same passionate focus learned as artists serving the great comic community.

Tanya Scholl, owner of Comics on Coffee

At last, they're packed into our fabulous TarMucks bags and shipped out to YOU, dear backer!

The final product, TarMucks "Get Java" roast, is:

  • Sustainably grown, roasted to order, and guaranteed FRESH!
  • 100% natural, with no additives, sugars, or pesticides, ever.
  • Complex, with notes of chocolate, walnut, and citrus.
  • City+ medium-dark roasted, preserving its delicate notes and caffeine content.
  • Strong enough to keep Cthulhu awake!

We hope you'll like it as much as we do!

Or you can order them using BackerKit after the campaign ends, no matter what level you back at!

In the past 24 hours, we've unlocked two new rewards when we sailed past our $4.5K funding goal and our 110 backer milestone! Are you ready to see what you'll now be getting with your other rewards?

"The Cthlorax" Art

This campaign plants a tree for every backer—at least 110 of them, now that we've hit backer milestone #2! We've been thinking about how to commemorate this earth-friendly campaign…but also work in Cthulhu, because he's the reason we're here, right?

Enter…the Cthlorax!

Aw, look at his little tentacles!

Jayel Draco conceptualized and created this absolutely heartwarming art piece, and now that we've passed $4.5K in funding, we're unlocking the digital art for everysinglebacker!

We're also unlocking a 5x7" art print of the Ctholrax as an add-on for just $10, available here in Kickstarter by clicking "Manage My Pledge." (Or you can add it to your cart after the campaign in BackerKit!)

Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter #1

In the first of this dark horror/fantasy series by USA Today bestselling author (and editor of the Cthulhu Is Hard to Spell: The Terrible Twos anthology available through this campaign) Russell Nohelty, Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter follows a psychopath who escapes a mental asylum and becomes a monster hunter. But he doesn't know if he's killing monsters, humans…or it's all in his head.

With whimsically horrific art by Renzo Podesta, this 22-page first issue will thrill you and chill you in equal measures.

Unlocked!

And it's coming your way! Now that we have 110 backers, we're sending every backer a copy of the digital version of Ichabod Jones: Monster Hunter #1 with their rewards.

Next up?

Our next stretch goal, unlocked when we hit $5K in funding, will be a TarMucks logo postcard shipped with every physical reward!

And our next backer milestone of 120 backers will unlock a Kickstarter-exclusive preview of Gods of Aazurn, a 37-page comic book by Gary Scott Beatty featuring cyclopean gods and eldritch monsters shuffling through four complete stories.

We can't wait to unlock these rad rewards. The fun is just getting started!
